Clandestine and Historical Grave Detection - Idaho 2021
Time & Location
About the Event
This is a 4.5 day course that focuses on lowering the responsive threshold level of your canine to better assist them in detecting and responding to clandestine human remains. To accomplish this we will work a variety of source material, known marked graves, and unmarked graves. We will have Ground-Penetrating Radar to gain a better understanding of burial locations and the depth of burial.
Besides working to assist our K9s to become the best they can be, we will also be working on developing handler skills. Specifically, we will work on field survey techniques, such as grave awareness, and the use of the probe as a survey tool. We will also work on GPS skills and field mapping of potential graves. We will learn to incorporate the data that we collect from the field to produce professional maps and reports that are more than simple action reports.
The course instructor is Paul S. Martin, who brings twenty years of canine experience plus his education and experience as a forensic archaeologist.
The course fee includes lunch in the field each day.
